At TICKLES, We practice Neuro-Development Treatment (NDT) to treat children
with Development delay, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, children having
Muscle weakness, Balance issues, Abnormal muscle tone (Hypertonia, Low
muscle tone, Fluctuating muscle tone, Dystonia etc.).
If child is not able to achieve motor milestones as per his age and lags behind,
for example: Child is not able to control his head by 5 months of age, not able to
roll over or sit by 6 to 8 months and there is delay in standing and walking then
complete assessment is done to understand the factors affecting child’s
development and comprehensive treatment plan is made to help the child to
achieve his/her milestones.
Assessment and Treatment plan is made by NDT Certified therapist from NDTA,
USA.
Time to time, Reevaluation and Goal making is done to check child’s progress.
Therapy sessions are done in a very playful way as we believe that active
participation of the child is more important to improve functional skills and
children learn better when they have fun.
Therapy sessions help children to become independent, helping children learn to
sit and walk independent.
Use of mobility aids is taught as per child’s strength and weakness such as using
canes, tripod, crutches, walker, wheelchair etc.
Neuro-Developmental Treatment is based on the unique Contemporary NDTA, USA Clinical Practice Model and unique “hands-on” treatment approach. This technique is used primarily for children with Cerebral Palsy, Stroke, Traumatic brain injury, Down syndrome and other neuro-motor disorders.
NDT is used for individuals with movement and muscle control challenges. These motor control issues are typically referred to as neuro-motor or neuromuscular dysfunction, and can seriously affect body movement, muscle control, muscle coordination, posture and balance.
NDT works on the functional abilities and limitations of the child.
The comprehensive, hands-on approach to treatment, is used to assist the individual in appropriate motor synergies utilized in functional skills
NDT therapy sessions typically include:
Examination, evaluation, and intervention or treatment, grounded in an on-going process of clinical problem-solving to both build on the individual’s strengths and also take into consideration their limitations.
Task Analysis: NDT clinicians analyze each person’s capacity to participate fully in life through observation of functional activities and limitations, noting the postures and movements that support and limit these functions.
Active participation of the child in functional activities.
Therapy encourages movement and balance, helping CP children sit and walk independently and use mobility aids, such as wheelchairs and walking aids.
